Tim Ho Wan is not just a meal; it’s a journey into the culinary heart of Hong Kong, redefined for a global audience. Your palate will thank you.

Stumbled by this place while wandering through the Shoppes of Marina Bay Sands. I immediately recognized the name, A Michelin-rated dim sum place from Hong Kong. It wasn't too long of a line; seated within 5 min (I think we just beat the lunch rush). The service was very fast and efficient, not much in terms of conversation with the waitstaff as you order via a QR code/website. A very clean and organized establishment. All the utensils/tools you need are nicely tucked away in a drawer at each table. Typical of most Singaporean places, complimentary napkins are not provided so be sure to have your own hand sanitizer and napkins. They have a very extensive menu. We got some of the staple items: pork & shrimp dumplings, pork ribs with black bean, shrimp dumplings, and braised phoenix claw. Also got a couple of their signature items, the abalone, pork, and shrimp dumpling with tobiko (a Marina Bay Sands exclusive), as well as their famous baked bbq pork buns. Both were great! The abalone was a really nice touch atop the dumping, adding a different texture to the dumpling. The baked bbq pork buns were fantastic, a good combo of sweet and savory.

Oof... I had 18 hours to run around Singapore and soak up (or rather eat up) as much local cuisine as I could before my flight. I arrived at Tim ho Wan in the MBS mall 15 minutes before their kitchen closed for the night after reading about their Michelin Star. Thankfully they took me in. Their service naturally was a little rushed/lacking, but the flavors.. holy cow. You can really taste the freshness of their dumplings. Unlike most of the inauthentic dumplings we're served in SF where shrimp dumplings are essentially one blended ball, all the proteins in their dumplings physically fall apart in your mouth in their glorious entirety. By far my favorite - Sesame Molten Egg Balls. Yolk porn, but in your mouth. Pokr Rib Yam & Black bean bowl - I freakishly love eating chicken cartridge (Lebanese thing), so this was the perfect dish for me. I tried my first bowl of congee which I devoured. BBQ Pork Buns were phenomenal Spicy Pork Dumplings - extremely spicy for my imposter palette.

There was no line here in the afternoon on a weekday. Their dimsum is made to order, so it's super fresh and more refined than most other dimsum. The menu did seem a bit limited. - Spinach and shrimp dumpling: a super clear thin glutinous skin outside of shrimp and garlic spinach - Siu mai: more shrimp than pork, nice thin skin - Egg tarts: buttery tart like crust, smooth light filling, served warm There are a bunch of locations for Tim Ho Wan in Singapore. Not sure why this one had such low scores, but I thought it was a great afternoon snack.

Maybe I'm way out of bounds on this one, but I actually really had a great time at Tim Ho Wan. There wasn't an opportunity to try their iconic buns at any other point during our trip, so it was almost a relief to see this in MBS. Do they charge for the wet naps? Yes. Is it off-putting to see that? Yes. But, would I not come here knowing that? Nope. Those pork buns are delicious and absolutely an experience worth trying if you're not able to make it to their other locations. We went during the weekday for lunch and didn't have to wait very long. Ordering seemed pretty efficient, and food came out fairly fast. Not really too many other things to complain about!
